Mandatory HS Codes for Export Bookings
In light of recent increase in container fire/explosion incidents onboard container vessels, it is imperative to enhance the vetting and monitoring process for commodity details in all containers loading on vessel.
WEF 1-SEP 2024, HS codes will be mandatory for all laden export bookings, with a submission deadline of 24 hours before the vessel’s ETB. Failure to comply will result in the container being shut out without compensation, and all associated penalties, costs, and SSRs will be charged to the booking party’s account.
This measure is crucial for the safety of the crew and the protection of the vessels.
