New Regulation From Cat Lai Port – Mandatory Documentation For Specific Commodities
Please be advised of a critical regulatory update issued by Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) concerning shipments to Cat Lai Port.
Background: Between November 2024 and May 2025, there were five fire incidents involving containers declared as non-DG (Non-Dangerous Goods), including commodities such as bone meal, fish meal, and poultry meal. Although these fires were swiftly contained by Cat Lai Port’s Fire Prevention and Fighting team, the risk to cargo safety and port operations remains substantial.
New Safety Requirement: To strengthen fire and explosion safety measures during sea navigation and port storage, Saigon Newport Corporation (TCSG) now mandates that all shipping lines submit specific documentation for containers carrying these commodities declared as non-DG, at least 24 hours before vessel arrival at Cat Lai Port.
Required Documents (Submit ≥24 hours prior to vessel arrival):
Separate container list for the specified commodities
Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
Manufacturer’s Non-DG Certificate or equivalent (e.g., Test Result Report)
Emergency contact person (Name + Mobile number)
